In line with Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s initiative to encourage investment in clean energy technologies while revitalizing the economy, the New York Power Authority installed a 16 kilowatt photovoltaic installation on the roof of the Power Vista. When you utilize our overpass walkway you will see 66 solar modules of 245-watts each mounted on the roof of this building. The exhibit kiosk here shows you how the solar energy reduces the facility’s electricity use. Since the early 1990s, NYPA has installed more than 100 P-V projects at NYPA customer and state public facilities including the University of Buffalo, the Buffalo Museum of Science, the Niagara Falls Public Works and Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority garages. The Power Authority’s efforts to spur development of solar power are also demonstrated by allocations of lower-cost power to local companies that make products used in solar panels.
