Economic development is a top priority for the New York Power Authority. We provide the lowest-cost electricity in New York State. Our economical electricity, already linked to nearly 370,000 jobs statewide, can make the difference between jobs growing here or going elsewhere. We work with state and local entities, including Governor Andrew M. Cuomo's Regional Economic Development Councils, Empire State Development Corporation, the New York State Economic Development Power Allocation Board and other local and regional organizations. Low cost power from the Niagara Power project is tied to more than 30 thousand jobs in western New York alone. This hydropower is classified as either replacement power or expansion power, and is delivered through arrangements with National Grid and New York State Gas and Electric, the utilities that deliver the region’s electricity. These exhibits demonstrate NYPA’s importance to the region and contain additional audio-visual presentations.
